Rates of Counselling, Psychotherapy, Coaching and Supervision vary widely, both throughout the Capitol and the Country, generally. My session rates reflect my training, experience and outcomes. I do however, always have at least 10% of my clients at any given time, who are receiving extremely discounted rates, and in extraordinary cases I have worked pro bono. If working with me is of interest to you and you would like to either be on a waiting list for low cost therapy, or take a place if one is available, please enquire during your free twenty minute phone call.
If your situation is emergent and I can not accommodate your therapy at low cost, I am always happy to refer you on to a colleague
You will notice a range of prices for the same service. As mentioned above, I always have some clients paying a lower price due to financial constraints (those individually negotiated prices are not shown). In my hopes to continue to normalise the process of therapy and extend access to good therapy, I also discount for clients who have been referred by past clients. In some cases, I may be able to do some discounted work via video formats (however this is not applicable for complex work).
Contracting for this depth work may begin with a general plan for a few months, with regular reviews in order to keep work boundaried, focused and on track. Some of this work however, may be open ended. Reviews will still take place, usually every 3-6 months, or sometimes for very long term work, yearly. This keeps the work on track and allows us to make sure the work is serving you, and addressing what you came for, as well as looking to the future.
Weekly sessions run for 50 minutes, and begin on the hour. Your space is booked for open ended therapy, and I will not see anyone in that space, even if you don't show.
It is sometimes impossible for a client to make weekly sessions due to work, travel, lifestyle, etc. In these cases I will see you for counselling every other week. These sessions will be 50 minutes and begin on the hour. Your space is booked for open ended therapy and I will not see anyone in that space, even if you don't show.
The same discounts that apply to weekly psychotherapy sessions apply here.
Coaching is different from therapy in that it is more directive in nature, and does not deal with deeply held unconscious issues. Coaching is more relevant to running your life more efficiently, or with less stress. It is also never a good substitute for therapy. Many of my coaching clients are former therapy clients honing their practice, or those who have had therapy elsewhere. Some clients are looking for a supportive, creative environment within which to experiment with positive change.
There are two points of contact during a coaching contract, which can run for 3, 6, 9, or 12 months. First we will meet for a 50 minute coaching session, in two weeks this will be followed by a 20 minute "check in" call, on the telephone.
Your space is booked for the entirety of the arc of your coaching and I will not see anyone in that space, even if you don't show. You will be charged for a missed session.
Sometimes clients come to me with big changes that they want to make in their lives - it may be a weight loss, a career or health goal, etc. In these cases, it is important to have other resources in place, which we can discuss in our first session. In these cases, where individuals are very well resourced outside our sessions, we schedule four meetings during the year, with monthly 20 min phone calls.
This is depth longer term work for couples experiencing difficulty in their relationship. This could include emotional distance, sexual issues, infidelity, differences in beliefs about what marriage is and should be, and any combination of the above. *
As humans, we are drawn to connect, and romantic connection is often one of the most fantasised about partnerships that we come across. The weight of our conscious expectations, unconscious beliefs, and over taxed schedules, often leave us wondering where the dream went.
The work I do with couples has at its foundation, acknowledgement of each individual and the complexity of desire, disappointment and wounding, that they bring to the partnership. It is intense and transformative work (90 mins).
Most couples find it helpful to have at least one session apart from their partners. Usually clients have a number of individual 50 min sessions. I am happy to work to support each individual, as supported individuals aid partnerships. This works if I am working with both individuals. If only one person is requesting individual sessions, I will focus only on the couples work and refer on to a colleague any individual work.
While the cancellation policy is below, when you begin therapy, I will remind you of what happens when you need to cancel a session.
The work that we do has at its core your health and wellbeing. The time and money that you spend on your therapy is in aid of you. Therefore, once we have contracted to work together, we do so in an understanding that in respect of your commitment to yourself, you will endeavour to make each appointment. If you can not make it to an appointment, in the majority of cases you will still be charged. In ongoing emergent circumstances it may be that we negotiate a break in the therapy.
Due to the long term nature of many psychotherapy clients, I give two sessions per year (often taken as holiday) which clients can miss their sessions without paying. These session spaces will be offered to other clients as “emergency” spots, or will be used by new clients as their assessment session.
* The length of couples work will be negotiated with each couple, including the cancellation policy
